Old West Church, an extremely well preserved meeting house, has served the community of Calais since 1825. Interestingly, the Old West Church is more typical of southern New England churches built half a century earlier, as it was modeled on late 18th-century meeting houses that Calais' settlers had attended in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The meeting house, serving both religious and secular functions, had no precedent in England, and was an early American building type.
Established in 1891, our historical society is one of the oldest in the Commonwealth. We are a private, all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting and sharing Medfield’s history. We provide connections with local history that enrich our lives and our community. As an organization we would like to provide a monument to those founding family members whose original monument has been lost to time.
Located on the former Worcester and Stafford Springs Turnpike twelve miles west of Worcester Massachusetts is the most outstanding historic building in the Town of Charlton, The Rider Tavern. The tavern is being restored by and is the home of the Charlton Historical Society.
Vine Lake Preservation Trust is a nonprofit charitable organization promoting appreciation of the cultural, historical, and natural resources in Medfield, Massachusetts’ Vine Lake Cemetery founded in 1651.
We would like to promote the "The Story" by creating a museum. Moving the headquarters from Pittsburg, CA to the Cushman House in Medfield, MA.
Bobby Wheelock (August 6, 1864 – March 13, 1928) was an American baseball player who played from for the Boston Beaneaters in 1887 and the Columbus Solons from 1890 to 1891. He was 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) and weighed 160 pounds (73 kg). He batted right-handed and threw right-handed. He first game was on May 19, 1887 and his final game was on September 27, 1891. He was born on August 6, 1864 in Charlestown, Massachusetts and died on March 13, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts.
